Unlimited golf, value-laden fall stay-and-play packages now available; inaugural SEC BeachFest a success
(GULF SHORES, ALABAMA) - City officials announced Wednesday that there was no significant damage from Tropical Storm Isaac, and local restaurants, businesses and attractions are open for business. All nine member courses of the Gulf Shores Golf Association are also scheduled to be ready for play this weekend.
"The weekend forecast is promising and we are looking forward to a great Labor Day holiday," said Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft.
September starts a 3-month-long span during which midday temperatures along the 32 miles of pristine shoreline average between 70 to 80 degrees. The nine Gulf Shores Golf Association courses are all located within an easy 45-minute drive of each other and offer a wide variety of designs and price points.

Inaugural SEC BeachFest a Success
The first-ever SEC BeachFest - which included appearances by legendary college football coaches Nick Saban of Alabama, Les Miles of LSU and Gene Chizik of Auburn, concerts headlined by The B-52s, and the SEC Golf Scramble - was held in Gulf Shores last weekend, helping kick off the college football season. Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Tourism is an official sponsor of the Southeastern Conference and the Gulf Shores Golf Association is a merchant partner in the program.
Keith Walker of Pass Christian, Miss. and three of his friends won the Golf Gulf Shores Facebook SEC BeachFest Golf Scramble sweepstakes. Along with a free foursome entry fee into the scramble, the prize also included accommodations, courtesy of Young's Suncoast Realty & Vacation Rentals.
The foursome of Joe McCarron, Kevin McCarron, Bryant MacKellar and B Sizemore won first place at the Golf Scramble. The team was tied with three others after completion of the championship round at Kiva Dunes before winning the match on the first hole of a sudden death playoff.

Cypress Bend at Craft Farms - The sister Honours Golf property to Cotton Creek, the Arnold Palmer Signature Design meanders through cord-grass accented lakes which come into play on nearly every hole.
Glenlakes Golf Club - Scottish-style links course designed by Von Hagge and known for its extensive bunkering and postage-stamp greens.

Lost Key - The stunning course, redesigned by the Arnold Palmer Design Group in 2006, rewards accuracy off the tee and with approaches as it winds through woods and wetlands. It also boasts a new state-of-the-art clubhouse.
Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club - Owned and operated by Honours Golf, the 27-hole facility offers chilled apples on the tee. The 830-acre park includes 30 lakes and fairways surrounded by Bon Secour Wildlife Preserve.
Rock Creek Golf Club - Also owned by Honours Golf and boasting rolling terrain and fairways lined by pines, the Earl Stone design overlooks freshwater wetlands and the Rock Creek basin.
TimberCreek Golf Club - This 27-hole design was crafted by Earl Stone and feels like an inland Carolina course with fairways lined by loblolly pines, dogwoods and magnolias.
Gulf Shores Golf Club - Formerly known as The Golf Club of the Wharf, this was the Gulf Shores' first course. Opened it 1960, it was redesigned by Jay and Carter Morrish in 2005.
