GolfTEC's Nick Paez Named One Of "America's Best Young Teachers" By Golf Digest
Cleveland-based director of instruction and franchise owner one of "40 Under 40"; another accolade for highly recognized and respected teacher
Cleveland, Ohio (Oct. 18, 2012) - Nick Paez-who owns three GolfTEC improvement centers, is about to open a fourth, and gives more than 2,500 golf lessons a year-has been named one of "America's Best Young Teachers" by Golf Digest.
Paez owns and operates three GolfTEC centers in northern Ohio-in North Olmsted, Beechwood, and Canton-and will be opening another in Brecksville by the end of the year. He teaches at the North Olmsted (Cleveland West) center, where he's been since joining GolfTEC in April 2007.
"It's a huge honor to be recognized by Golf Digest," says Paez. "Honestly, I haven't had much time to sit down and think about what it all means. I've been going a mile a minute-teaching, running three centers, and about to open a fourth.
"This is a level of success I've always wanted to achieve and I'm thrilled to be included with all the other great teachers. I always wanted to be one of them, and I knew I was working hard in that direction. But I never thought it would come so soon."
Also honored in the November 2012 issue of Golf Digest is Andy Hilts, GolfTEC's Vice President of Instruction and Education, who works in the company's Denver-area headquarters. This is the fourth time Hilts has been named one of the country's top young teachers.
For the 36-year-old Paez-who is from the Cleveland area and started teaching golf locally in 2000-this is one more honor in an already illustrious career. Earlier this year he was named 2012 Northern Ohio PGA Teacher of the Year and ranked the Number-4 Teacher in Ohio by Golf Digest. That magazine also named him one of its Top 100 Club Fitters in America in 2011. Other awards include 2010 Top 50 US Kids Instructor and both GolfTEC Teacher of the Year and Club Fitter of the Year in 2009.
As part of the Golf Digest article, Paez offers guidance to golfers who find themselves "on an emotional roller coaster" when playing. Calling it "A Post-Shot Routine," Paez suggests that golfers focus on what they do after each shot, working to remain calm and focus on the next shot rather than worrying about the last.
"The less you dwell on things," he writes, "the better your chances of success." That sounds like advice the very busy-and often honored-Paez has followed his entire life.
