100 years ago the first golf course in Japan was built in Kobe. There was no golf club production in Japan at that time and Kobe was famous for metal work, especially the forging of Samurai swords, a highly skilled traditional craft. The same forging techniques could be readily adapted to create another precision instrument, the golf club. From one of the finest craft men of swords, came the birth of Vega forged golf irons. Vega has since worked tirelessly in pursuit of the perfect forged golf club through the finest one pieced forging process.
Shimada Golf KK is one of only two companies in Japan which manufactures steel shafts. Shimada is a dedicated family business, passionate about golf and the pursuit of the perfect golf shaft. In 1951 Shimada Products KK was established as a shaft factory, also producing parts for skis. The company grew and the present factory was built in 1967, opened by Mr Hayashi, now executive of Mizuno. Shimada only makes steel shafts focused on feel for the player. To maximize its properties, the heating to reheating trade process enables the shaft to perform at its best with maximum feel for the player. There is a Shimada shaft for every golfer from the slow swing speed and high launch shafts right through to the heavier shafts demanded by many of the world's leading players..
